Hi, I’m Laura
I’m the artist and maker behind Incio, creating colourful original artwork, cards, gifts and keepsakes from my home in rural West Wales.
I’ve loved art since school and spent years painting with acrylics before falling completely for alcohol inks… the colour, movement, and unpredictability had me hooked.
I’m also a mum of two, an operations manager, volunteer, occasional carnival-float painter and enthusiastic seasonal-window decorator.
Most of what I do is for other people.
Incio is the thing I do for me.
It began as a way to find a little piece of myself again after becoming a mum, and gradually grew into the cards, artwork, gifts, and keepsakes you see today.
Colourful, personal and usually a little unpredictable… much like life itself.

And then there’s Incio
Incio is where all that love of colour and making comes together.
It’s a collection of original artwork, cards, gifts and keepsakes designed to feel personal… whether they’re marking a birthday, a new baby, a wedding, Christmas, or simply something worth remembering.
Everything starts with my own artwork, and because alcohol ink has a mind of its own, no two original pieces are ever quite the same.
Some pieces are ready to choose from, others can be personalised, and if you have something completely different in mind, I’m always happy to hear the idea.
There’s a lot more to say about the art itself… how it’s made, why I love the medium, and what makes each piece different.

Grab a cuppa, and I’ll spill the beans on how Incio came to be.
My Story
I was born and raised in Pontrhydfendigaid, a little village at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains in West Wales, where I still live with my husband and our two boys.
Art has always been part of my life. I loved it at school, and I’ll forever be grateful to my secondary school art teacher, ‘Huw Art ', Mr Williams, who was incredibly encouraging and supportive and really nurtured that creative side of me. I’ve painted with acrylics for years, upcycled furniture, worked on our home renovation, and have always been happiest when I’m making, painting or building something.
I became a mum for the first time in May 2020🥰, right in the middle of the Covid lockdown.
I adored my little boy, but the transition into motherhood was much harder than I expected. Before that, I was working, renovating, creating, using my workshop and generally doing whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted.
Suddenly, everything revolved around this tiny person I loved completely, while the rest of the world had effectively shut down around us.
At first, I thought I just had the “baby blues”. He had been a very unexpected baby… not in a bad way, just genuinely unexpected. I was diagnosed with PCOS as a teenager and had long believed having children would be extremely difficult, if possible at all.
Add a new baby, postpartum hormones, lockdown, and my self-employed electrician husband still having to go out to work while I was seriously isolated at home… and honestly, who wouldn’t assume they were just having a rough time?
It turned out to be postnatal depression.
I was supported by a therapist who, fairly quickly, suggested that I might also be autistic and have ADHD… which began a whole new process of understanding myself.
Anyway… painting became my way back to me.
I came across fluid art online, started looking into alcohol inks and couldn’t stop. The colour, movement and unpredictability completely fascinated me.
Looking back, learning that I’m AuDHD helped me understand a lot about how I work and create… the hyperfocus, the constant ideas, the need to solve things properly, and the way I can become completely absorbed in something I care about.
Alcohol inks suited that part of my brain perfectly.
I began experimenting and eventually painted a few Christmas baubles with memories from that year on them… something we could hang on the tree each Christmas and look back on together.
People started asking if I could make pieces for them too, and what began as Mountain Moor slowly grew and evolved into Incio. Mountain Moor = Incio.
And although Incio now creates things for other people, it still exists for a very personal reason.
The financial support from customers helps fund my alcohol ink hyperfixation/obsession 😉… but more than that, it gives me permission to keep doing something I genuinely love.
I spend most of my life doing things for someone else… family, work, clients, volunteering, community projects.
Incio is the thing I do for me.
It gives me a place to make, experiment, play with colour and create something simply because I love doing it.
And I really hope everyone has something that is just for them too! Especially fellow mums. We’re not exactly famous for putting ourselves first.
I think that’s part of why every piece feels so personal to me.
